FMS Jacksonville Lunch Bunch April 12, 2014

Hey guys:

    I am sorry for such a late notice but it has been so hectic the last few weeks time is sleeping by me.  Let me know if you can make it to Stark, Florida this coming Saturday April 12, 2014.  We will be meeting at the Western Family Steakhouse on U.S. 301. We have done this before, and the report was that everyone loved the restaurant. It's a buffet style of good 'ole country style cooking. Meat dishes include steak, roast beef, B-B-Q pork or beef ribs, pork roast, fried chicken (to die for) and fish (sometimes). The vegetables are most anything served anywhere. The salad bar is excellent, and the desert bar with cookies, pies, cake and pudding is topped off with soft ice cream (chocolate and vanilla). They serve from a menu also, but we all prefer the buffet. Yum, double yum. Senior lunch cost is minimal. We will be meeting at 11:00 AM for Lunch.  If anyone wants a ride let me know have a couple seats available.  Some of the Wives will be going. 

    Directions: Go south on US301 through Stark and will be around the railroad track or just past it. South end of Stark.

    So everyone will know Jeff Fawsett is having Surgery this month.  Don Campbell was in the hospital last month.

Carl Ward, 88, of Crestview Hills, Kentucky, passed away on March 18, 2014 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on August 31, 1925, Mr. Ward served in theU.S. Marine Corps during the Second World War, serving in the 6th Marine Division during the Okinawa campaign. He later earned bachelor and masters degrees from Eastern Kentucky University. Mr. Ward married Mary Lou Snyder on May 11, 1946. They were married for over 52 years. From 1956 to 1971 Mr. Ward was headmaster of the Florida Military School in Deland, Florida. He later served the Volusia County Schools in a variety of positions, retiring in 1987. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary S. Ward. He is survived by four loving sons, Carl C. Ward, Edgewood, Kentucky, Paul S. Ward, Carmel, Indiana, Scott C. Ward, Tallahassee, Florida and John D. Ward, Clemmons, North Carolina, and seven loving granddaughters. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hospice of the Bluegrass, 7388 Turfway Road, Florence, KY 41042 or the Hospice of Cincinnati, 4310 Cooper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242.

FMS Jacksonville Lunch Bunch

Dear Fellow Cadets and Friends:

 

It is time again for us to have our Social, and it will be on Saturday March 22, 2014.  The location is Major. Brownie Ramsey favorite restaurant.  The famous name is Osaka Japanese Restaurant, 11701 San Jose Blvd., 886-7778 (located in the Winn Dixie strip center at the corner of Loretta Road and San Jose south of I295).  This is a buffet style so come hungry.  Formation will form at 11:00 AM so be on time.  If you are late the Major will be giving out licks with his paddle.  LOL guys.....  Look forward to seeing you again.

 

You know I think we have been doing this for over two years now and we have not missed a single month.  It's time for those that have not come to show up and make this our largest group ever.  Some wives do come and they seem to fit right in.  They tell it like it is with there husbands...... LOL guys.....

 

Time is running out to plan for the Reunion on your Vacation time for 2015.  Just a little over a year from now.

Back in Time.  Thanks To "George" Miss Evans for all the wonderful meals she prepared for us.  Well, except the SOS we had..... LOL.....

This was in the 2006 Directory. It will give you all the meals we had.

 

Pancakes

Flour 3 lbs

Salt 1 oz

Sugar 4oz

Baking Powder 2 oz

Milk 4lbs

Eggs, separated 8 eggs

Melted Butter 4 ozs

beaten Egg Whites

Portion: Serve 3, 3oz cakes

this makes 14 orders

1. Sift the following ingredients together:

flour, salt, sugar and baking powder

2. Make a hollow in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour in milk and unbeaten egg yolks. Stir from the center outward, adding in the dry ingredients a little at a time.

3. Add melted butter. Mix Fold in beaten egg whites from above. Mix smooth.

 

Baking Powder Biscuits

Flour 3 Lbs

Shortening 3/4 lbs

Baking Powder 1/4 lbs

Sugar 4 oz

Salt 1 oz

Buttermilk 1 qt

Yield: 90 Biscuits

1. Sift all dry ingredients together

2. Then add shortening and work into dry ingredients

3. Then add buttermilk and work lightly.

Our next Jacksonville Lunch Bunch meets this coming Saturday February 22, 2014, at the Golden Coral Restaurant on Southside Blvd in Jacksonville, Florida.  Hope all well come.  If you get there before 11:00 AM you will pay less and ask for a Senior Discount if you have made it that far.  You will have breakfast and lunch for breakfast price.  See you Saturday.

Had a great day in Stark Florida. Sorry for all those that missed a great lunch with a bunch of great guys and some wives. We had for the first time today a College Cadet George Cranston and his wife eat with us. Don Campbell brought his wife for the first time and Jackie said she was planning on comming to our lunches some more. Pictures will follow shortly. Those in attendence also were Robert Green, Howard Savage, Jeff Fawsett, Mark Tyndall, Robert Mouro and Lori.and Jim Lucas. Well turnout and good fellowship.

FMS Jacksonville Lunch Bunch Travels to Stark

A group of our FMS alumni and cadet members from the Jacksonville Lunch Bunch are carpooling down to Starke on Saturday, January 25, 2014, for lunch at the Western Family Steakhouse on U.S. 301. We have done this once before, and the report was that everyone loved the restaurant. We will be meeting at Tinseltown in front of the Movie Theater and we will leave SHARPLY at 9:45 AM.  If you are going with us please call me 904-294-4265 and leave me a message if I do not answer.  Or reply to my e-mail.

For those that do not know Tim Tyndall ask me to let everyone know he does not do Face Book.  He is just not into it.  And, also, to let everyone know that Tim has been helping with the FMSA official Web Page.  He has been doing the then and now pictures and adding any comments of what you did at FMS and  the listing of Cadets with phone numbers and address on the site.  If you are not listed please send him an e-mail along with your before and now picture and what you want him to add to the site.  He has spent hours on hours putting this part of the Web page together and now keeping up with it.  Thanks Tim for all your hard work and efforts you have done.  And Thanks for putting up with me during your building of the site.
